Automation of a series of repetitive tasks on a computer so that the tasks run without manual intervention. In the early days of computers this was done by processing stacks of punch cards. In Audacity, repetitive tasks are handled by creating a Macro. The Macro can apply a predetermined sequence of effects to the current project, or can be run unattended to apply effects and/or format conversions to a batch of external audio files.
