Test that detects viral particles in blood or other body fluids. (pcr = polymerase chain reaction).
A diagnostic test that detects viral particles in blood or bodily fluids. Through a process called PCR, or polymerase chain reaction, small amounts of pathogen DNA are amplified - or copied - to sufficient levels for detection. Studies of isolated pieces of DNA are nearly impossible without PCR amplification.
