Glossary Digital Television / Term
(server, file-server) A storage system that provides data files to all connected users of a local network. Typically the file server is a computer with large disk storage which is able to record or send files as requested by the other connected (client) computers, the file server often appearing as another disk on their systems. The data files are typically around a few kilobytes in size and are expected to be delivered within moments of request.
