An unvented cylinder is a sealed system and its water not 'open' to atmosphere which enables it to deliver high pressure hot water as it is not limited to the 'head' of water created by the cold water tank of an open vented system. Installers of unvented cylinders must carry a qualification to install them and work is notifiable under Building Regulations.
