(V 90, V90) The ITU -T V.90 standard for modems transmitting at 56kbps. It was ratified in the fall of 1998 to settle the confusion and conflicts between two competing 56Kbps modems, X2 and K56Flex. It was previously known as V.pcm, for "pulse code modulation".
