Audio Input

In an audio/video system, the audio input is a connection on an electronic device allowing electronic signals with audio information sent by another component to enter. The audio input is essentially a door into which audio signals may enter – think of a door at the store marked “Enter Only.” Audio signals are carried over interconnect wires as low-level signals from one electronic component or piece in an audio system to another. The audio input is where the wire terminates; it is the end of the journey for the audio signal through a wire from one “box” to another. Common forms of audio inputs include RCA jacks and XLR jacks. The audio input is a receptacle accepting audio input.
