Glossary Multimedia / Term
Audio signal that travels from one channel to another where it is not intended to be thus creating distortion; bleeding of audio information between channels. Channel leakage is just that, sound leaking from one channel to another. ake a stereo left and right channel. The left channel should have a distinct signal as should the right channel. Channel leakage occurs when information from the right channel moves over into that of the left channel or vice versa. Take the example of a two-lane highway. Each lane is a separate and distinct channel. The cars travelling in each lane can be thought of as audio signals. If one car begins to swerve into the other lane, riding down the center of the road, that car is “leaking” into the other channel or lane. Channel leakage is information from one channel entering another channel when it is not supposed to be there.
