Flow of electricity through a circuit over a period of time; current is measured in amperes. Current is how much charge flows through a conductor (a material electrical energy can flow through) in a given period of time. lectric current, as used here, is similar to the flow of water in a river. A fast flowing river is said to have a fast current. That means that a large amount of water is flowing through the channel, the river, over a period of time. Electric current is exactly the same thing only it measures energy flow instead of water. Current is one of two integral components of power. Power, measured in watts, is derived by multiplying current by voltage (voltage being the pressure or force that pushes energy through a circuit).
