Farad

Standard measurement for capacitance, the ability to store an electrical charge. Capacitors are used to store electric charges. They are found in a variety of electronic components with a particular importance in amplifiers where they store a charge for later use outputting an electric signal or an electric current to drive speakers. Farads are used to measure the amount of charge that can be stored. Typically, a large storage capacity is desirable giving an amplifier a large energy reservoir from which to access energy. nother commonly used term is microfarad meaning the measurement of the ability to store one millionth of a farad of electrical charge (micro means one millionth; 1/1,000,000). In fact, most measurements of audio equipment capacitance are in microfarads.
