Full Range Surround Sound Channels

A feature of 5.1 digital surround sound formats allowing discrete surround sound channels which are capable of playing across the frequency band audible to human hearing (20 Hz to 20,000 Hz). The advantage of full-range surround channels is clearly evident when watching a modern action movie. Explosions, gunshots and other sound effects behind the audience have the same impact and realism as their counterparts coming from the front. n analog matrixed surround sound (namely Dolby Pro-Logic), the surround speakers are fed with a single mono channel which has a limited bandwidth (no sound below 100 Hz or above 7,000 Hz). The digital full-range channels provide everything from deep bass to the highest highs in discrete stereo making the surround sound experience much more realistic and involving. Full-range surround channels do require more robust surround speakers than previously necessary along with higher power than previously necessary (preferably the same power as the front channels).
