GUI (Graphical User Interface)

Technique used to display information on a television screen or other display device in order to make the operation of some equipment easier or provide enhanced functions. any preamplifiers and A/V receivers use GUIs as do most VCRs, laserdisc players, DVD players and even some CD players. These components use the display monitor to provide information to the user in a graphical way. For instance, VCRs often use GUIs to allow programming to record a show at a specified time. Preamplifiers and receivers routinely use GUIs to aid in system set-up such as selecting speakers, setting delay times, and more. Many of these components also use GUIs to provide feedback such as volume level, input selection and more. he GUI is designed to make using complex features and functions easier by using text and graphics. Also, these interfaces allow many functions to be controlled without needing button sets for every single function (GUIs typically use a few standard buttons to travel through menus and lists). Some advanced GUIs are even doing away with the majority of remote control functions in favor of advanced interfaces on the user’s video display.
