IDTV (Improved Definition Television)

Not to be confused with digital television, improved definition television uses particular electronic means such as line doubling to improve the quality of analog NTSC video signals. High definition television (HDTV) is an all digital television format with high resolution and an improved picture (six times the resolution of current standard analog television). IDTV, on the other hand, works with the current analog standard to improve on it and create a superior image. IDTV does not equal the quality of HDTV and it is not a digital format, however, it does make analog video signals appear to look more like HDTV. Generally, IDTV is only workable with front projection video displays using data grade or graphics grade CRT projectors.
