A single command which can accomplish the same things as multiple commands. A macro essentially records the functions of multiple commands and combines them into one for ease of use. For instance, a home theater user may use various remote controls to turn on his television, play a DVD, adjust the volume level and select a surround sound format. By using a macro, he could accomplish all those tasks by pressing a single button. Macros are found mainly on specialized learning remote controls.
