Video display capable of operating at multiple scan rates (namely horizontal scan rates) beyond the basic 15.75 kHz of analog NTSC video. Multiscan displays are primarily front projectors based on CRT technology with some LCD and DLP projectors also being able to produce images beyond basic video signals. ata grade projectors are able to display VGA computer graphics at a resolution of 640 by 480 as well as line-doubled video. Graphics grade projectors are able to produce S-VGA computer graphics with a resolution of 1,024 by 1,280 as well as line quadrupled video. ultiscan video displays are more flexible in the program material they can display than basic video grade televisions and displays. They are required to produce line doubled or line quadrupled video. Multiscan displays cost appreciably more than their singlescan, video-only counterparts, but they offer an enhanced ability to upgrade coupled with more choice in formats displayed.
