Maximum output (sound pressure level) in decibels a speaker can produce without distorting. A speaker’s peak output represents how loud that speaker can cleanly play. The peak output is generally only reached on transients (sudden, loud sounds) when the speaker is already playing at a high output level. A speaker’s peak output may be limited by the amplifier driving it if the amplifier does not have sufficiently high RMS and peak power ratings.
