Sound Wave

Continuous audio frequency signal taking the form of a wavy line similar to waves on the water with frequency determining the length of the waves and amplitude or volume determining the height of the waves. low frequency sound wave is vary large with one cycle (one complete section of the wave that repeats itself) being 56 feet long at 20 Hz (20 cycles per second, the lower limit of human hearing). By contrast, a 20 kHz sound has a wavelength of about two thirds of an inch. ncreasing the volume increases the power applied to a sound wave resulting in higher peaks or higher amplitude. High-volume, low frequency sounds create massive sound waves that we not only hear but physically feel (think of a jet flying overhead rattling the windows). ll sound waves are analog in nature, made of an unbroken line without individually distinguishable pieces or components forming the sound wave. This contrasts to digital signals, which break the wave into many individual components that approximate or mimic the shape of the wave.
