Glossary Multimedia / Term
Prime listening position for an audio system; the “best seat in the house.” The sweet spot is the listening position for which an audio system is optimized. Normally located halfway between the speakers and back 6 to 8 feet for a stereo audio system, the sweet spot is where optimal sound quality is encountered. Depending on the given system, the sweet spot may be large and able to accommodate multiple listeners or very small placing a single listener in the position with no room to move. All systems have a sweet spot, but that does not mean there are not other listening positions that afford great sound.
