Glossary Multimedia / Term
Projection screen format in which the screen features fabric loops or tabs running down its left and right sides connected with a wire or cable having the result of pulling the screen taught and preventing folds or creases from marring or distorting the projected image. Tab-tensioned screens are retractable meaning that they can rolled up into a small casing and hidden or moved. ab-tensioned screens are typically powered screens that roll up and down using a small electric motor. The wires and tabs work together to pull the screen at its sides and stretch it horizontally. This results in a screen with no undulations or waves. Permanently mounted screens are secured and pulled so that they do not need a tab-tensioning system, but they cannot be rolled up and hidden or moved. ab-tensioned screens cost more than permanent mount screens or traditional roll-up screens without the tab-tensioning, however, they ensure a flat screen and are still retractable enjoying the benefits of both retractable and permanently mounted screens.
