Tone Arm

Metal shaft attached at one end to a phonograph turntable with a phonograph cartridge attached to the shaft on the other end. The tone arm holds the cartridge in relation to the record spinning on a turntable. The cartridge holds the stylus (record needle) which in turn reads the grooves in a record album. The album is placed on a round platter attached to the turntable. The platter spins thus spinning the record and moving the grooves past the stylus or needle. The tone arm holds the stylus in proper relation to the record album allowing it to move in the grooves in relation to the cartridge and generate an electric signal.
