The viscosity a fluid appears to demonstrate on a given instrument at a stated rate of shear. It is a function of the plastic viscosity and yield point of the given fluid. The apparent viscosity in centiPoise (cP) as determined by the direct-indicating viscometer is equal to 1/2 of the 600 RPM reading.
