Glossary Oil and Gas Field Operations / Term
A mechanical device used to remove the residual bend in coiled tubing. A straightener is typically constructed of opposed rollers which are adjusted to create a reverse bend in the coiled tube sufficient to straighten the tube prior to entering the wellbore. On some injector designs, the straightener is located directly below the tubing guide arch, where other injectors locate the straightener directly above the stripper.
