Peritoneal dialysis (PD)

A form of dialysis that takes place inside the patient’s peritoneal cavity, using the peritoneum as the dialysis membrane. Bags of dialysis fluid, containing glucose (sugar) and various other substances, are drained in and out of the peritoneal cavity via a PD catheter.
