Glossary Supply Chain / Term
Capacity planning systems that stay within defined capacity limits when loading proposed production schedules against resources. Finite systems rearrange the initial dates for planned and open production orders by moving them forward or backward in time as far as needed in order not to exceed the available capacity. Infinite capacity planning systems leave orders on the existing dates and merely show whether the load on a resource is over or under its defined capacity, without recommending changes.
