Glossary Web Jargon / Term
(JPEG, Joint Photographic Experts Group) Image compression standard, optimized for full-color (millions of colors) digital images. You can choose the amount of compression, but the higher the compression rate, the less quality the image has. Almost every full-color photograph you see on the Web is a JPG file, while GIFs are used to display clip-art images (up to 256 colors).
