Synchronous area an area covered by interconnected systems. These systems’ control areas are synchronously interconnected with the control areas of members of the association. Within a synchronous area the system frequency is commonly steady. A certain number of synchronous areas may exist in parallel on a temporary or permanent basis. A synchronous area is a set of synchronously interconnected systems that has no synchronous interconnections to any other interconnected systems.
