(YOLL) The YOLL approach takes into account that due to different causes people of very different age groups may be at risk. In the case of a chronic disease leading to the death of very old people, only the years of life lost due to the disease as compared to the average life expectancy are taken into account. For each year of life lost approximately 1/20st of the value of statistical life is used.
