Bi wire

Technique used in connecting speakers to amplification sources in which two wires are run from each amplifier terminal to the corresponding speaker terminal instead of one. The advantage of bi-wiring is that it essentially doubles the gauge of wiring you are using enabling more power and a higher definition signal to pass through to the speaker. i-wiring is used with speakers having double binding posts or double terminations normally connected by a jumper. One set of bindings are connected to the high frequency drivers while the other set is connected to the low frequency drivers. One set of wires is run to each pair of binding posts and the jumper is removed. The two sets of wires are then connected to the amplifier – two negative wires from the speaker to the negative (black) terminal on the amplifier and vice versa for the positive (normally red) connections. You must use speakers with dual binding posts to benefit from this technique and you will need two high-quality pairs of wires instead of one. Some amplifiers are designed with bi-wiring in mind having two sets of binding posts per channel.
