Radio tuner specification describing a tuner’s ability to lock in on and play information from one channel versus another based on the strength of the channel when both channels are on the same frequency. This tuner spec is of particular importance when you live about the same distance from two radio stations broadcasting on the same frequency. The tuner’s ability to pick the stronger station and play it while not playing the information from the weaker station is measured by the capture ratio. he capture ratio is measured in decibels (dB) and the lower the number the better. The number given represents the difference needed for the tuner to “capture” one station or play its programming versus another on the same frequency. A low figure means that there doesn’t need to be too big a difference between channel power to pick out and play the more powerful channel. A capture ration of 1.5 dB or lower is good.
