Most carousel changers hold from three to six discs. The playing disc is changed by rotating the platter the discs sit on similar to a carousel or merry-go-round. Carousel changers, and changers of various types in general, provide convenience by storing multiple discs in one place where the player can retrieve them itself without physical intervention required from the user.
