Glossary Satellite TV / Term
Some satellites do not have the plane of their electric fields perfectly aligned with the equatorial plane. As a result of this polarization offset, polarizers must be capable of having some fine adjustment, known as skew adjustment, in the plane of detected linear polarity to achieve maximal signal reception. In addition, even if the plane of linear polarization is perfectly aligned with the equatorial plane, as the difference between the site and satellite longitude increases, this apparent plane is twisted as viewed from the receive dish.
