Satellites most often broadcast signals with either one or two senses of linear or circular polarities. The polarizer built into a feed must be capable of discriminating between these two different signals. There are three basic types of linear polarizers, mechanical, V/H switched and ferrite or electromechanical devices as well as circular polarizers.
